My name is William Everett, I’m 30, Deaf, and diagnosed with Combined ADHD at aged 29. I created 'My Deaf ADHD Journal' to share my experiences and connect with others who face similar challenges. Growing up in a deaf family who relies heavily on BSL, I struggled to understand myself, why I reacted strongly, had difficulty managing emotions, and felt different. I was often labeled as hyperactive, inattentive, or simply "just Deaf."

My ADHD diagnosis made everything click. Now, I’m on a mission to support and empower the Deaf ADHD community. Many ADHD resources are created from a hearing perspective, relying on auditory tools like phone calls, podcasts, and verbal instructions, which are inaccessible to Deaf people. They also fail to address visual overload, cultural differences, and the challenges of navigating the hearing world.

Deaf culture shapes how we experience ADHD, yet mainstream resources rarely acknowledge this. That’s why creating Deaf-centred, culturally aware spaces is essential, it is to bridge the gap and provide real support for our community.
