ADHD UK AmbassadorKieren Jennings

Hi, I'm Kieren and I'm over the moon to be the newest ADHD UK Ambassador.  I was officially diagnosed with ADHD in June 2024 at the age of 36.

Looking back, my school reports - full of comments like 'must  pay more attention' and 'can usually be found staring out of the window' - show that it was always there, but my diagnosis went under the radar.

The common misconception was always (and still is for some) that ADHD manifests itself as the kid who won't sit still; but the hyperactivity element for some - as it is for me - can be a frustratingly hyperactive mind. Having said that, my brother will be happy to confirm that during Sunderland football matches, my 'bouncy knee' was usually just as frustrating to him as the match itself!

My diagnosis was a massive turning point for me. It's helped me to better understand myself, and has allowed me to reframe my past experiences. I'm excited to get stuck in and will advocate for greater understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity.
