ADHD UK Ambassador

Jenny Booth

Hi, I’m Jenny, and I’m really proud to be an ADHD UK Ambassador.

I’ve spent over 30 years working with young people, helping them figure out their next steps—but somewhere along the way, I realised my heart was very much with those who feel like they don’t quite fit the mould… especially those with ADHD.

I meet so many teenagers who think they’re the problem. They’ve been told they’re not trying hard enough, that they’re distracted, disorganised, or (my personal favourite) “just need to focus.” If it were that simple, we’d all be sorted, wouldn’t we?

What I see is something very different. I see creativity, energy, curiosity—and huge potential that just isn’t being tapped into in the right way.

I really believe that differences are strengths. The way your brain works isn’t wrong, it’s just different—and when we stop trying to squeeze young people into boxes they were never meant to fit into, things start to shift. It’s something I’ve come to understand not just through my work, but from my own late ADHD diagnosis too.

A big part of my work has been looking at the link between ADHD and young people struggling after school. I’ve seen how quickly confidence can take a hit when traditional routes don’t work—and how powerful it is when young people find a path that actually suits them (rather than drains them).

I’ve also written a book, Career Coaching Your ADHD Teen, to help parents and professionals support young people in a way that makes sense—because let’s be honest, long lectures and “just get on with it” rarely do the trick.

For me, being an ADHD UK Ambassador is about changing the conversation. Less “what’s wrong with you?” and more “what works for you?”

The right support doesn’t just help young people cope—it helps them thrive.
