ADHD UK Ambassador

Alan Day

Care and Safeguarding Consultant

I’m Alan, and understanding my ADHD has helped me make sense of a lifetime of experiences—both the strengths I bring and the challenges that others haven’t always seen.

I was in and out of care from seven and grew up in foster care. Having spent over 30 years working in care and safeguarding, I am passionate about helping people feel safe, understood and valued.

My own experiences have made me particularly passionate about ADHD and mental health in the workplace. I want employers to recognise the impact that misunderstanding, pressure and a lack of support can have, and to create environments where people feel safe to speak openly. Listening, making reasonable adjustments and responding with compassion can make a significant difference to someone’s wellbeing and ability to contribute.

Alongside my safeguarding consultancy, I share my experiences through talks and my children’s book, Reginald the Seahorse. I want to challenge misconceptions, encourage practical support and help children and adults with ADHD feel less alone.
