Emily Weston
ADHD UK Ambassador
Hi, I’m Emily. Whilst growing up, I always noticed I was ‘different’ to my friends. In school, I found tasks that my peers found simple, quite difficult, and this only became more obvious the older I got. Then, becoming a teacher, I started to learn and understand more about neurodivergence and began wondering: could this be something I need to explore further for myself?
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and felt relieved that I now had an understanding of why I found things difficult. Now, I was able to put things in place that might help.
Because I understand how this feels, it’s made me a much more empathetic teacher and person. It’s so important that ADHD is highlighted so that we can advocate for the changes that are needed to support others. Having empathy won’t just help improve the lives of those who have ADHD, but everyone. This is why I am proud to be an ambassador for ADHD UK.
